Complete this form to share your ideas for artwork on the sidewalks and within the light blue "bump outs" at either end of each crosswalk. Using everyone’s drawings, ideas, and images as inspiration, public artist Graham Coreil-Allen of Graham Projects will develop crosswalk art design options for you and other stakeholders to vote on your preferred choice. GNIA's 5th Annual Crime & Safety Fair on 2/22/23 was a big success!
Guest speaker State's Attorney Ivan Bates spoke and took questions and we were honored by visits from our awesome first responders: Baltimore Police Dept., Baltimore Fire Dept., Northwest Citizens' Patrol, Hatzalah, and Shomrim. The event was well attended and there was warmth and good will all around.

HISTORY
The Glen Neighborhood Improvement Association (GNIA) was formed in the late 1960s. Howard Moore and Jackie Miller were two of the early presidents. Min Hoffspiegel, Delores Brown, Iris Smith, and Derrick Lennon have also served as presidents.
The GNIA has developed relationships with community groups such as CHAI, the Northwest Citizen’s on Patrol, the Northwestern Police District, Baltimore City officials, State officials and the presidents of community associations form Falstaff, Cheswolde, Cross Country, and Mount Washington. Glen worked with the neighborhoods mentioned on the Strategic Neighborhood Action Plan (SNAP).

A BeMore Baltimore grant is providing street cleaning to Glen and income to our youth!

OUR COMMITTEES
Education
Ronald McCallum, Chair
The Education Committee monitors educational issues, such as the closing of public schools and building of new ones. The Education Committee works with Baltimore City Public Schools, recognizing the paramount importance of education in the health and future of our community.

HOUSING AND ZONING
Judith Krumbein, Chair
The Housing and Zoning Committee monitors community issues such as vacant and poorly maintained properties, zoning compliance and appeals, and home ownership statistics. Housing and Zoning works closely with Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development and the Board of Municipal and Zoning Appeals to ensure compliance with City regulations.

MEMBERSHIP
Joyce Sanders, Chair
The Membership Committee keeps track of our membership and ensures annual dues are paid in a timely manner. The Membership table is present at every monthly meeting and special event, giving all community residents the opportunity to join our association.

TRAFFIC AND SANITATION
Allan Van Johnson, Chair
The Traffic Committee monitors traffic issues in our community and engages with the Department of Transportation to provide traffic calming where needed, safe pedestrian crosswalks, and other initiatives ensuring vehicle and pedestrian safety.

HOSPITALITY
Joyce Sanders and Mark Hart, Co-Chairs
The Hospitality Committee ensures that all residents of the Glen Community feel welcome at our meetings and special events. Hospitality provides refreshments and maintains meeting rooms, so everyone is comfortable.

GREENING AND ECOLOGY
Betty Cherniak, Chair
The Greening and Ecology Committee works to maintain our beautiful tree canopy, by engaging with Tree Baltimore, and the planting of native plants. We also promote recycling and monitor litter in our community, working with the Department of Public Works to educate citizens on these important issues. Our Annual Garden Party, at the corner of Northern Parkway and Park Heights Ave., is one of our most popular and anticipated events.

REISTERSTOWN MERCHANTS' ASSOCIATION
Maxine Webb, Chair
RRMA is an independent group of merchants along Reisterstown Road corridor. RRMA is currently being re-activated after a period of hiatus. We look forward to a robust RRMA, giving all merchants in our community a resource and support group they can share.

CRIME AND SAFETY
Alf Frankel, Chair
The Crime and Safety Committee works with the Baltimore Police Department, NWCP, and Shomrim to minimize crime in our community and to make community members aware of spikes in crime and how to best keep themselves and their families safe.

PIMLICO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
Maxine Webb, Chair
The Sanitation Committee oversees trash pickup and litter in our community. Initiatives to educate community members and students about the importance of decreasing litter and complying with trash pickup regulations are led by this committee.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS
Our first meeting will be Wednesday, 9/23, 7:00. Due to Covid precautions, we will meet via conference call until further notice. The number to call is: 848-220-3300, ID 641-9914#. Please announce yourself (unless our guest speaker is speaking), then mute yourself until the question & answer time.
The agenda for the 9/23 meeting will be: update on GNIA business conducted over the summer, committee reports, open forum, and our guest speaker. Please bring any community business to the attention of the group during open forum, anything you’d like to ask our committee chair people or general business you’d like to bring to our attention.
Our guest speaker for the meeting will be City Council President (and presumptive Mayor) Brandon Scott. Mr. Scott will take pre-submitted questions. If you have a question for him, please email it to me by next Monday (9/21) at: cherniakb@gmail.com. All questions are welcome and encouraged.
